The free drawing

What we charge is what our time costs, and that is not going to reach everybody. There should still be a way to us that does not cost anything. So every month we give some of it away, by drawing.

If you can pay, please pay. If you can't, this is for you, and we take your word for it. We never ask why.

Put your name in

What comes up

Names are pulled at the start of the next month. What each name gets depends on when it comes up.

Our time

Subscriptions

After the drawing every name is erased. If yours did not come up, put it in again next month.

The rules

NO PURCHASE OR PAYMENT OF ANY KIND IS NECESSARY TO ENTER OR WIN THIS DRAWING. BUYING SOMETHING FROM US DOES NOT IMPROVE YOUR CHANCES.

Who runs this

The drawing is run by Magpie, the Holistic Sophist. You can write to us at [email protected]. It is not sponsored, endorsed or run by Etsy, TikTok, Instagram or any other company.

Who can enter

Anyone 18 or older, anywhere this is lawful. Void where prohibited or restricted by law. It is meant for people who cannot pay for our time right now. We take your word for that and never ask for proof.

How to enter

Fill in the form on this page, which is free. It asks only for your email. One person gets one name in each pool, each month. There is no other way to enter and no way to get more chances.

When

Each calendar month is its own drawing. It closes at 11:59 pm Pacific time on the last day of the month, and we pull the names by the 3rd of the next month. The first drawing opened in November 2026 and is pulled by December 3, 2026.

How names are chosen

At random, by computer, with every name in a pool having the same chance. Each pool is its own drawing. Need, spending and followers play no part. Your chances depend on how many names are in that month. If fewer names are in than there are things to give, every name gets something, in the order on this page, and the rest stay with us.

What can be won

Each month, thirteen things, worth about $580 in all. The full hour is worth about $111, each half hour about $56, each 15 minutes about $28, the portrait about $111, and each month of subscription about $27.

A reading: you pick any reading in our shop up to the time you won, except the same day readings and the ones done on TikTok. You answer that reading's own questions, and it comes to your email in the time the shop lists for it.

The portrait: small, about 4 by 5 inches, drawn by hand, in oil pastel, Neocolors or colored pencil. We choose which. You tell us what you want drawn. We may write to you first, and we may not. We mail it to you at our cost.

The subscription: one month of everything listed above, starting the day you take it. It lives on a purse key, which is free to make. It ends on its own and never asks for a card.

Nothing here has a cash value, can be swapped for money, or can be given to somebody else.

If your name comes up

We email you, and that is the only way you find out. If you hear nothing, your name did not come up. You have until the last day of the month the names were pulled to answer. After that it comes back to us, and nobody else is pulled in your place. You can also say no thanks. We do not name winners in public.

Your information

We keep your email and nothing else about you. It is locked where it is kept, and it is used only to run this. We do not add you to any list. Every name that does not come up is erased when the names are pulled. If yours comes up, the address goes when you answer or your time runs out, and what you send us to get your reading or portrait is kept like any other order. You can take your name out before the drawing with the button above, or by writing to us.

Taxes

A prize can count as income, and any tax on it is yours. We will never ask for your Social Security number.

The rest

We are not responsible for email that never reaches you, for mail lost once it has been posted, or for anything outside our control. We can change these rules or stop the drawing only for months that have not opened yet. By putting your name in you agree to these rules.
